Mrs. London's is the quintessential bakery. Their breads and pastries are a reflection of Micheal London's passion for the craft and art of baking. The reviews that already exist speak volumes far more elegantly than I ever could. After the race track, this should be your second "must do" in Saratoga. A few of my favorites as suggestions: Breakfast: -The bacon and ham quiche -Fresh fruit and yogurt with their house made granola -The almond croissant Lunch: -The Ham Croque Monsieur. Pay special attention to the tiny bread and butter pickles. They are the perfect compliment to the perfect sandwich. -The chocolate pecan cookie After Dinner: -Walk to Mrs. London's and choose any dessert that catches your eye. Each one is a spectacular jewel that reflects the artistry and sheer technical virtuosity with which the entire kitchen staff approaches each offering. My only complaints are: -The staff is often very slow and indifferent to customers. It's unfortunate that the passion in the kitchen doesn't make it to the service staff. Of course when the food finally arrives, your frustrations will melt away. -The second is for locals. During the winter months, the offerings are scaled back and are inconsistent. I used to stop in every morning to buy both breakfast and lunch for the day. But after a few months I gave up. I really miss that part of my day. All that aside, I stop in every chance I can.
It's a shame that most people only go to the Wine Bar for a drink or a cigar. What they are ignoring is one of the most innovative, and exciting restaurants in Saratoga Springs. This is a "foodies" haven. What's more interesting is that the dishes on the menu are usually 6 months to a year ahead of dining trends. Couple this with the freshest locally grown ingredients, a knowledgeable waitstaff and a chef who is a magician in playing wonderful games with flavors, and you have the winning combination to a dining gem. Over my almost 3 years here, I've invest a couple of thousand dollars dining there-I don't regret a single penny. And, you won't either.
