Burrittos Back on Broadway Print E-mail

Adios Professor Moriarty?s; Bienvinida Burrito?s

Dale Easter was at last weeks Chamber of Commerce mixer unceremoniously announcing the sad news that he had finally reached an agreement to sell Professor Moriarty's.   The new owners immediately closed the doors to begin the transformation of the venerable Professor Moriarty's to a Mexican restaurant.  Aye caramba is all the rambler can say.

Professor Moriarty's has lived at one of Broadway's most prized locations for nearly 25 years.  For many of those years it defined eating and drinking on Broadway.    Granted it has not been up to par for the last several years and was in need of a little TLC.

Nonetheless, as a Saratoga Springs institution with personality, named for the archenemy of Sherlock Holmes; atmosphere, serving fine victuals in a casual Victorian setting; and longevity, Professors Moriarty's deserved a proper send off.   Unfortunately the fans and patrons of Moriarty's are left to toast the closing of its doors in solitude instead of in a raucous celebration more befitting of the great run the restaurant had on Broadway.

One can only hope the new owners will be able to create an equally impressive personality and atmosphere that can stand the test of the decades to come.

Hmm..... if they name it for a nefarious character, say Pancho Villa, serve free margarita's on Cinco de Mayo....

stayed tuned everyone.  stay tuned.
