Skidmore Central We went to Skidmore, so we have our favorites, but the great thing about Saratoga Springs is that it is always changing. When our founder first came to Skidmore in 2001, the apartments on Railroad place were a parking lot, Peabody's was a place to watch baseball on Sunday afternoons, the Grotto was The Newberry (it had just changed from The Metro and had a sweet shark tank) and The Saratoga Hilton, was The Sheraton (then it was The Prime, then The Saratoga Hotel). The Saratoga Life is dedicated to keeping you up to date with whats new and whats good (in every sense of the phrase).
If you are looking for all the great Saratoga Attractions, head over to our attractions guide to check out some of the best spots to visit in and around the area (we know, the battlefield doesn't sound cool, but...). If you are looking area events, you can find the best calendar around for live music and entertainment right on our events page. Here is a place you can find some of the Skidmore Friendly businesses that cater towards you and your visiting friends and family. Find live music, deals with your Skidmore ID card or maybe a hidden gem you hadn't heard of before. If you haven't joined the community yet (do that here), you can create an account, review these businesses, share your Saratoga experiences in a blog, and sign up for a handy monthly newsletter giving you all the important updates and specials.
Here is a collection of our favorite spots to hang out, visit, grab some sun or learn something new (that you don't have to...). Two of my favorites that most people know, but everyone should check out are Congress Park and the Spa State Park. Congress park was designed by the same guy who made Central Park in New York and while not as big (clearly) its a great place to explore and hang out - especially come spring and summer. The Spa State park is an enourmous park, with BBQ ereas, baseball diamonds, tennis courts, joggind trails, a long "mall" with a reflecting pool - even its very own golf course.
Of course, the Park is also home to the Lincoln Baths and the world famous Saratoga Performing Arts Center. If you can make it to a show here, do your best to try. Some of the greatest bands in the world have toured here, there is a lot of history and its a great place to see a show. Saratoga Springs is one of the best parts of going to Skidmore, so enjoy all Saratoga has to offer. (We're always here to help you find what you don't know you're missing.)
