Hats Off to Saratoga Print E-mail

If there is one thing Saratoga is known for, it is the lavish parties and celebrations that go on. The opening weekend is certainly no exception and is just about as rowdy as it gets. With music in the streets both Friday and Saturday night, people of all ages can appreciate the greatness of Saratoga and the beauty of the summer. Caroline St will be closed and The Saratoga Life themselves will be at The Icehouse with free drinks for anyone who mentions the website. So if your a days drive or a 9 iron away, its one of the best weekends in Saratoga and of course we have your guide to whats going on and where. 

This year's celebration will be held on: July 25 & 26, 2008 from 7 to 11 p.m. Check out the info below or click on read more for the whole scoop.

1-Bluz House Rockers (City Center – Saturday only):

2008 is Bluz House Rockers 12th Year Together. The only area band to perform four times at Albany’s 15,000 seat Pepsi Arena, BHR music is a mix of hand-selected classic rock, blues and funk. Be sure to bring your dancing shoes!



2-Captain Squeeze & the Zydeco Moshers (Collamer Lot)

They are the ambassadors of a-capella;” Saratoga’s own long-time favorite all-male vocal group with Barbershop style.

4. Rebecca Jean Smith (Adirondack Trust Co. Drive Through)

Hailing from the Northeast & having lived in the south, Rebecca Jean Smith brings witty writing to an acoustic folk based sound. A new day lore through folk, blues, funk & rock.



5-Slick Fitty (Caroline Street)

50’s & 60’s cover songs, 50’s & 60’s inspired originals, “Hot Rodded,” for all generations to enjoy. Music of yesterday with an awesome modern sound.



6- Sarah Pedinotti Band (Lillians/Cantina Lot):

Sarah Pedinotti is a songwriter and musician from Saratoga Springs, NY. She has released three albums independently. In 2003 and 2005, Billboard Magazine editor Thom Duffy, who described Pedinotti as “a talented young singer/ songwriter on the rise,” respectively listed her albums “You Go To My Head” and “One Mirror” as top ten best new albums of the year.



7- Sensemaya (Division St. – Friday):

Sensemaya fuses hot Latin dance rhythms with the cool sophistication of jazz improvisation. Their repertoire includes funkified interpretations of classic salsa to originals written in the revolutionary timba style of Cuba. Their own uniquely fresh Latin jazz compositions include a variety of styles from Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Brazil and the Dominican Republic. While Sensemaya can cater to the intimate jazz listener, their true purpose is to get audiences out of their seats and on to the dance floor.



7- Keith Pray’s Soul Jazz Revival (Division St. – Saturday):

This hard hitting 5 piece group plays with the sophistication and creativity of traditional jazz, but also creates a fun down to earth experience for all.

Hats Off is one of the best street festivals anywhere but we remember when the McKrells owned Broadway and their fans crowded Lillian's parking lot to hear their music and buy their latest CD.
