Feast of the Fields Showcases Region’s Chefs and Farms
Unique culinary event benefits Saratoga P.L.A.N. Sept. 15
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Feast of the Fields takes place Thursday, September 15, from 5 to 8:30 PM at Saratoga National Golf Club to benefit Saratoga P.L.A.N. Attendees will enjoy the bounty of locally grown produce prepared by some of Saratoga County’s best chefs. The evening will also include musical entertainment, a silent auction and recognition of local conservation heroes.
Continuing its annual tradition, Feast of the Fields pairs area restaurants and farms, in an effort to promote sustainable agriculture, support the regional economy, and provide greater awareness of conserving regional farms and the importance of buying and eating local. This year’s chefs include:
- Jasper Alexander, Hattie’s
- John LaPosta, Maestro’s
- Tim Meany, Beekman Street Bistro
- Dale Miller, Sperry’s
- Gordon Sacks, Nine Miles East Farm
- Jay Saunders, Prime
- Augie Vitiello, Augie’s Family Style Italian Restaurant
- Vivian Brammer, Prime, and The Cupcake Lab will provide desserts
Each chef partners with a local farm and showcases a key ingredient from that farm. The farms are all within or very close to Saratoga County. The evening's "program" doubles as a farm guide, providing information on each one, what foods they have available, and how to patronize them. Some of the farms that will be included this year are: Anderson Acres, Adirondack Buffalo Farm, The Alleged Farm, Crandall’s Corners Farm, Creekside Farm, Dancing Ewe Farm, Hand

Each year P.L.A.N. honors people who have significantly contributed to conservation in Saratoga County over the past year either by conserving their land or volunteering critical talents or services to Saratoga P.L.A.N. Land owners Jim and Christine McKnight, land owners Vernon and Shirley Van Arnum, and volunteers Chris and Jackie Parker are this year’s “Conservation Heroes.”
For the fourth straight year, Feast of the Fields will be set amid the beautiful grounds of Saratoga National Golf Club with spectacular views of 135 acres of forest and wetlands protected through a conservation easement held by Saratoga P.L.A.N. Tickets for Feast of the Fields are $50 per person until August 31. After August 31 they are $75 each. Space is limited. Proceeds from the event will help to conserve farmland, natural areas, trail corridors and historic places in Saratoga County.
