I've dined at the Grey gelding 4 times and never been disappointed. The wine list is extensive and the Pasta Robles is delicious. The chef came out twice last visit to bring our food and see if we were pleased. We certainly were!
I've had lunch here 2 times in the last month and it has been awesome. One day outside and one day in the front windows.
All lunches come with a side of fries and guacamole which is reason enough to go. They have a steak sandwich that is excellent as is the burger.
I brought a group of eight people in for my girlfriends birthday party. All is can say is "wow" the food, service and beverages were great. It was a Saturday night and it was crowded and a bit loud, but really fun if you like that kind of atmosphere. I have been there on a weekday and it is much more quiet, but as I said we did not mind. Our waitress was Randi and she really knew her wine and did not write a thing down and everything was right ON!! - We were impressed. The wine list is the best in town and we go out a lot. I have read the other reviews and I have always had great food here. It is the most unique menu I have seen in Saratoga and the portions are huge! Great job guys, don't change a thing!!
First off, let me say very clearly that I like this place. I go there on a fairly regular basis. I've sat at the bar, table, go for drinks, appetizers, meal, everything. With that in mind, I will keep going back. However, on occasion, I've had a meal that was fair at best, and once a horrible meal. Is it the norm? Certainly not, that's why I keep going back. It's a nice place, can be a lot of fun and has many followers.
I have to disagree with Steven about the food at the Grey Gelding. I travel a lot, but when I am home, I frequent the Grey Gelding. It has been the best new addition to town in a long time. Yes the dining is not quiet but I like to go places where it is happening and this place is. The food is always great and anything but plain. I am a wine geek and this is the place to find unique wine with generous pours! As with any place sometimes you have a bad service night although I never have so far. Keep up the good work!
Can you please add my star rating to the following review. Thanks
I have been to the Grey Gelding since they opened about 2 years ago. I believe it is the best restaurant in Town!! The food has always been excellent and the portions are well worth the money which I believe are very reasonable. The service has always been great. It is a very fun atmosphere. If you are looking for it to be a quite and romantic you might not want to go on a Friday or Saturday. However, if you want one of the best Martinis in town or the best wine list this is the place to be!! I disagree with Steven and could never believe the food would be bad - NO WAY!!
I have to disagree with Steven below. While the Grey Gelding isn't the best white table cloth establishment in Saratoga - its not trying to be. They have incredible appetizers, their seafood specials have been excellent every time I've tried them and its such a great atmosphere inside with a huge wrought iron horse on the wall. I know I'm not the only fan out there, its always busy here.
The food I had at the Grey Gelding is very plain, dinner food, not fine dinning as it appears. Service sucks, loud dinning room and the food is very sloppy, no flavor, and sicking.
I will never go back, even for a cocktail.
Nice restaurant with a good menu. Nice casual place. Good atmosphere. From burgers to steak, all was good.
