Local Teams Compete in Wednesday's Match
Part of the Saratoga Cup Series, last night's match was a face-off between two local teams, Sugar Maple Farm and Bloomfield. Sugar Maple Farm outscored its opponents by only one goal, finishing 10-9 at the final horn.
After a very brief downpour, and winds strong enough to blow a tree down across the driveway, the skies cleared, the sun returned, a perfect breeze drew a Wednesday evening crowd to Whitney Field II for a high-scoring first half, with Bloomfield ahead by three goals 8-5 at the end of the third chukker.
The second half belonged to Sugar Maple, with five goals scored, three in the in the sixth and final chukker.
The play continues Friday at 5:30 p.m. The two-week Saratoga Cup Series concludes Sunday with the Hacker Craft Cup.
John Walsh, host of television's America's Most Wanted, is expected to play in Sunday's match.
