In Sunday’s championship match, John Walsh’s Team Shamrock won 9-8 over the Palm Beach Exotics in an overtime challenge that kept more than 600 fans on edge, until Max Secunda scored the final penalty goal.
With the score tied at 1-1 at the end of both the first and second chukkers, the third chukker saw Billy Mudra score three penalty goals for Palm Beach, and again in the fourth with five seconds left on the clock. In the fifth chukker, Shamrock scored three, two goals by Secunda and another by Matt Fonseco, ending with Palm Beach up by two goals, 8-6. Max Secunda scored two beautiful goals for Shamrock in the sixth, tying the score 8-8.
Then in overtime, a penalty score by Secunda breaks the tie, ending a crowd-pleasing, exciting match 9-8.
John Walsh's Shamrock Team plays again next weekend. Scheduled matches this week are Wednesday, Friday and Sunday 5:30 p.m
