On Monday, October 19, patrons of Fifty South Restaurant and Bar in Ballston Spa helped to preserve open space in Saratoga County while they enjoyed delectable seasonal and local dishes served up by chef/owner Kim Klopstock. The evening was the first of several evenings this fall and winter when 10% of the restaurant’s earnings will benefit Saratoga P.L.A.N.

Fifty South is the first participant in a new partnership between area restaurants and Saratoga P.L.A.N. to raise funds for local land conservation. The initiative kicks off this fall and continues through the spring. Saratoga P.L.A.N. supporters will be informed about each opportunity to dine out for conservation through Saratoga P.L.A.N.’s website, The Saratoga Life website, email notifications, and the P.L.A.N. Facebook page.

For a list of upcoming evenings click on the "events" tab above.     Other participants so far include Maestro's restaurant, One Caroline, Mouzon House, The Jonesville Store, and Beekman Street Bistro.

“This is a great opportunity for restaurants to show their support for local conservation and help preserve the very land that gives rise to some of the amazing homegrown foods many of them serve,” said Maria Trabka, executive director of Saratoga P.L.A.N.

Fifty South will also host P.L.A.N. benefit evenings on November 2 and 16, and My Way Café in Malta will do the same on November 8 from 4 to 8 PM. Additional participating restaurants and dates will be announced in the coming weeks and throughout the initiative. Visit www.saratogaplan.org or www.TheSaratogaLife.com for information on the initiative and participating restaurants. To be notified by email of dates and restaurants in the partnership initiative as they are confirmed, contact Saratoga P.L.A.N. at 587-5554 or email maria@saratogaplan.org.

Saratoga P.L.A.N. is a not-for-profit land conservation organization offering comprehensive land conservation services to municipalities, developers, organizations and property owners while striving to achieve regional coordination and cooperation in land use, open space and recreational trail planning. It has protected over 3,115 acres of farmland, natural habitats, trails and water resources in Saratoga County. For more information on Saratoga P.L.A.N. visit www.saratogaplan.org.
